Sarah E. Patton, aged 77 years, 7 months, and 21 days, died at her home on West Chicago Street at 8:45 this morning. Complication of diseases caused her demise. She had been ill four months.

Deceased was born in Montgomery County, May 23, 1843 [to Thomas and Harriet (Harrison) Lofling]. She was married December 13, 1866, at Carpentersville to W.V. Taylor, who died July 7, 1871. Her second marriage was in December 1875, to D.M. [David] Patton, who died September 17, 1908.

The surviving children are Frank Taylor, of Putnam County, by first marriage; Walter and Charles Patton, and Nannie Hazelrigg, of Lebanon; and Mrs. Ella Lumpkins, of Memphis, Tennessee, all children by the second marriage. One brother, Dr. T.B. [Thomas] Lofling, of Montague, Texas, is also living.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church here.

Her father, Thomas Lofling, was appointed postmaster of Waveland, Indiana, on 24 Aug 1853. - from Kim H
